
Harvey Goldblatt, Master of Pierson College and Professor of Medieval Slavic Literature as well as of International and Area Studies, is originally from Hamilton, Ontario (Canada). He received a Bachelor's Degree in 1969 in Russian, from McGill University. While at McGill, Master G, as he is generally called at Pierson, was the first North American undergraduate to spend a year abroad in the Soviet Union. He received a Master's in 1972 and a Ph.D. in 1978, both from Yale University, in Slavic Languages and Literatures. In addition to his role as Master of Pierson College, a position he has held since 1994, Master G is also Chair of the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures here at Yale.
