The Master is the chief administrative officer and the presiding faculty presence in the college, and lives in the Master's House, adjacent to Pierson College. The Master is responsible for the physical well being and safety of students in the residential college, as well as for fostering and shaping the social, cultural, and educational life and character of the college. During the year, the Master hosts lectures, study breaks, Master's Teas (intimate gatherings during which students have the opportunity to engage with renowned guests from the academy, government, or popular culture) and other events.
The Master's Office is staffed by Senior Administrative Assistant Betty Lattanzi, Operations Manager Susan Anderson, and Service Assistant Sandra Atkins. Master's Aides, generally upperclassmen, are also on hand to help keep the Master's Office running smoothly. The Master's Office handles anything having to do with life at Pierson, including but not limited to key issues, packages and mail, events and activities in the College, and facilities such as the gym, buttery, and music rooms. The Master's Office is the place to go with any questions about college life and use of Pierson spaces.
The Master's Office is open Monday thru Friday, 9am-5pm.
Master G's office hours are held in the Pierson Master's Office and his office in the Slavic Department (Hall of Graduate Studies, Entryway B, First Floor, Room 2700). For meetings in the Slavic Department office, it is first-come, first-serve; hours in the Pierson Master's Office require an appointment (please sign up by stopping in the Master's Office or calling (203) 432-1031.
