Lauren Young
Lauren is a current third year in the European and Russian Studies MA program. Aside from learning about Russia’s history, literature, language, and culture, this has also led her to have a surprising amount of conversations about the animated Anastasia movie. Despite hailing from Los Angeles, Lauren dislikes driving and loves seasonal weather. When not working on or worrying about her Master’s thesis on Peter the Great and Russia’s first museum, Lauren enjoys reading, good tunes, great food, and theater. She holds a BA from Smith College, where the accompanying photo was taken, and where she double majored in Government and Russian Civilization. In case you were wondering, that’s a kokoshnik (a Russian headdress) she’s wearing, and rabbit ears. Lauren is so excited to be joining the Pierson community this year and is happy to swap cooking and baking recipes and to chat about Russian literature, fellowship applications, cultural and area studies, and anything in between! For those interested, she can also explain why rabbit ears and a faux Russian court costume became one day’s clear fashion choice.
